I am doing an abseil in DMU campus to raise money for new houses to be built in India for those in the Loving community whose houses and lives are affected by contaminated water during the monsoon. The Loving community is made up of individuals who previously had Leprosy but no longer have the infection. This community are still excluded from society, and still suffer from the effects of the infection, including loss of limbs, and further generations not being able to work due to the outdated perception of the infection.
I am currently a 2nd year nursing student at DMU, aiming to raise money to help the Loving community. Those who know me know I rarely step outside of my comfort zone, so the abseil is giving me opportunity to do so, as well as raising money to help the community.
