A dance workout for all to raise money for DMU Square Mile India

A short summary of your project

A fun-filled world dance workout for all ages and abilities thoughtfully curated right from pulse raiser to cool down by Sonia Chandaria Tillu (Artistic Director, Sona Lisa Dance Company). Move in minutes from afro-fusion to bhangra, flamenco to hip hop, jive to tribal belly dance! Expect 30 minutes of continuous bitesize world dance experiences in this global collaboration of South Asian artists, namely Vishesh Mehta (UK), Parita Pathak Bose (New Zealand), Astha Desai (UK), Raveena Singh (India), Priya Majithia (Kenya), Mansi Gandhi (India), Pranav Yajnik (UK), Neesha Radia (Dubai). Our aim is not only to provide an energizing workout, but we are raising money for a local project, DMU Square Mile India. Are you interested in joining us? We are offering access to the class for £2 for an individual or £10 for a group above 5 (for example a society). It is a prerecorded video so you can view it at your leisure until the 5th of December and you will be given access once your donation has been confirmed. To join us email us at dmuaroundtheworld@gmail.com. Thank you very much!

Who are you?

Since the official launch of the programme in early 2016, more than 300 De Montfort University students have visited Ahmedabad, in the Gujarat province, to help make a difference. Since the official launch of the programme in early 2016, more than 300 De Montfort University students have visited Ahmedabad, in the Gujarat province, to help make a difference. Flood-risk homes are being rebuilt, children are getting an education that would otherwise be denied them, people are getting tests that are improving their health and youngsters are getting dance and drama lessons. The project, working alongside the local charity Manav Sadhna, has now expanded to strengthen the education programme across five community centres in the city, which provides learning support to 2,000 children. Students and centre leaders have developed a rich curriculum which includes arts, dance, crafts and a supportive environment where they can flourish.

Where will the money go?

Every penny donated will go straight to DMU Square Mile India and the fantastic work they are doing.
